Physical Culture (PHYSIE) is a sport for girls and women which aims to build confidence, good posture, fitness, strength and flexibility through exercise.
Physical Culture (or physie as we all call it) is a sport for girls and women which aims to build confidence, good posture, fitness, strength, and flexibility through exercise. Physie has been established in Australia for 125 years, with over 130 clubs running across the country. The syllabus is a combination of basic ballet, aerobic warm ups, standing and floor exercises, and jazz dance, with routines performed to modern music. Physie is beneficial for all ages with fun-filled classes promoting flexibility, coordination, rhythm and teamwork. Beginners are always welcome! All routines are built upon as the year progresses, culminating in group and individual performances at the end of the year. The Syllabus is age appropriate, and choreography is tailored from 4 years right through to ladies with annual competitions for teams and individuals. You don’t have to compete but representing your club with your friends can be a lot of fun. The friends you make at physie will be friends for a lifetime. National finals for children are at the Olympic Park Sports Centre and for adults are held in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. The motto is MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO which means A HEALTHY MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY. And that’s what we’re all about!
