Where

The Screen Actors Workshop was established in 1988 (and was formerly known as the Film and Television Acting Academy.)

The acting school was founded by actor/director Alan Nurthen, with the sole purpose of training well-educated, dynamic and creative actors for the Australian film and television industry. For more than 30 years, Alan’s concise easy-to-grasp approach to theory, in conjunction with solid practical sessions and his nurturing teaching style, have earned him the reputation as one of Sydney’s leading screen acting tutors.

His students have successfully established long-term careers both in front of and behind the cameras. Many are established film and television actors, while others are working in theatre, radio and as television presenters, camera operators, sound recordists, writers, producers, directors and filmmakers.

Alan’s students have won some of Sydney’s most prestigious film and video festivals, including Tropfest, the Short Black Film Festival and the 24/7 Youth Film Festival.
