Westbrook Junior Australian Football Club

Good old Westbrook forever,
We know how to play the game.
Side by side we stick together,
To uphold the Bulldogs name.
Hear the barrackers a shouting,
The Westbrook Football Club was formed in 1982 when it was obvious that Cherrybrook/West Pennant Hills was going to develop into a densely populated area. The original committee and players were from the Pennant Hills club who lived in the Cherrybrook area.
The name Westbrook was selected as it combined elements from the names of the two suburbs where most of our players live. The colours Red, White and Blue were considered to represent the Hornsby Shire. With this colour combination it followed that Westbrook would be known as the Bulldogs after the AFL team with the same colours.
Westbrook’s home ground known as Greenway Park was first used in 1990 following the move from Headon Park in Thornleigh.
In 1990 Westbrook was one of the clubs in the forefront of commencing Auskick and Under 10’s in Sydney. These two age groups are the most important ages and the on field success of our club is a direct result of the dedication of the Coaches and Managers of these age groups
In 2002 the Westbrook home ground known as Greenway Park was re -named “Mike Kenny Oval” in honour of former Club President and stalwart Mike Kenny.
In 2002 Mike O’Grady became the first Westbrook Player to reach 200 games with the Club.
In 2006 Westbrook entered into a strategic alliance with the Macquarie University Australian Football Club to field an under 18s side in the 2007 season. Together with Macquarie, we have created a program that provides “AFL for Life” incorporating Auskick, junior football and senior football. A new jumper has been developed that incorporates the colours and logo of the Macquarie Kookaburras with the strip and design of the Westbrook guernsey.
Westbrook’s future as a leading junior club in Sydney is assured as the club has always been able to rely on the strong support and loyalty of its players and parents.
